In Syrien stehen die Pr\u00e4sidentschaftswahlen vor der T\u00fcr. Gro\u00dfe \u00dcberraschungen sind nicht zu erwarten, die Ergebnisse scheinen bereits festzustehen. Im Gegensatz dazu ist der Ausgang demokratischer Wahlen stets ungewiss, sie bieten mehr politische Optionen. Die B\u00fcrger*innen k\u00f6nnen bei demokratischen Wahlen \u00fcber den politischen Kurs mitentscheiden oder als Parlamentarier*innen oder f\u00fcr andere \u00c4mter kandidieren. Cheyma Ben Mbarek studiert Medizin und engagiert sich in Zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen und Initiativen, die sich mit b\u00fcrgerschaftlicher Teilhabe besch\u00e4ftigen. Dank ihrer Mitarbeit bei Bawsala und dem Observatoire Tunisien de la Transition D\u00e9mocratique (OTTD) verf\u00fcgt sie \u00fcber Expertise in den Bereichen lokale Verwaltung, Dezentralisierung, Transparenz und Menschenrechte. Im Rahmen eines Masterprogramms an der juristischen und politikwissenschaftlichen Fakult\u00e4t in Tunis erweiterte sie ihr Wissen zu rechtlichen Themen. Muhammad Mazhar Sharbaji stammt aus Daraya im l\u00e4ndlichen Gebiet von Damaskus. Er hat 1985 einen BA in Architektur sowie 1988 ein Postgraduierten-Diplom in Stadtplanung der Universit\u00e4t Damaskus erhalten. Muhammad Sharbaji arbeitete bis 1992 in der Allgemeinen Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Studien und technische Beratung in Damaskus und anschlie\u00dfend im privaten Sektor in den Bereichen Ausbildung, Supervision und Engineering. Sharbaji war auch im Syrian Engineers Syndicate aktiv und hatte von 1994 bis 2012 die Position des Leiters des Department of Engineers Syndicate in Daraya inne. Von 2003 bis 2005 war er Vorsitzender des Stadtrats von Daraya (Damaskus-Land). Mazhar Sharbaji nahm an zahlreichen lokalen, regionalen und internationalen technischen Konferenzen teil. Er ist Trainer und beteiligte sich an zahlreichen Forschungen im Zusammenhang mit den Themen lokale Verwaltung und Entwicklung von Gesetzen und Statuten sowie Dezentralisierung. Derzeit ist Mazhar Sharbaji Leiter der Abteilung Governance und Capacity-Building der Local Administration Councils Unit.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Dr. Soeren Keil forscht und lehrt an der Canterbury Christ Church University in Gro\u00dfbritannien. Zuvor war er an der Universit\u00e4t Pompeu Fabra (Spanien), am Centre for European Education in Nizza (Frankreich), an der Universit\u00e4t Graz (\u00d6sterreich), an der Freien Universit\u00e4t Berlin (Deutschland) und an der Universit\u00e4t Passau (Deutschland) t\u00e4tig. Er hat zahlreiche Regierungen und Nichtregierungsorganisationen insbesondere in Fragen bez\u00fcglich des West-Balkans beraten, und stellt sein Expertenwissen auch privaten Unternehmen und Think Tanks zur Verf\u00fcgung.
