Who is Bassma Kodmani
In 1981, Bassma Kodmani founded the Middle East Program at the Institut Français des Relations Internationales (IFRI) in Paris. Between 1998 and 2005 she worked as a consultant for various national and international research institutions, such as the Académie Diplomatique Internationale and the French National Research Council. Bassma Kodmani is co-founder of the Arab Reform Initiative and the Initiative for a New Syria. Before taking up her post as Head of the Foreign Relations Department and Spokesperson for the Syrian National Council in 2011, she worked as an Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Paris. In 2012, she resigned from her position as spokesperson for the SNC. In 2016, she joined the delegation of the opposition to the Geneva peace talks on Syria. In the SCC, she is an independent member of the opposition. |
